Sam founded the Western Australian Charity Orchestra in 2008. In 2017 Sam was awarded the Pride of Australia Medal for his contribution to the community through WACO.
In 2009, Sam graduated from WAAPA with a Bachelor of Music in Multiple-Woodwind Performance. He was the first student at the academy ever to study flute, oboe, clarinet, saxophone and bassoon in a single performance degree. Sam graduated with a Bachelor of Music Honours 2017 with first-class honours for his research into community and charity orchestras of Australia.
Sam is the woodwind and brass tutor at St Peter’s Primary School in Inglewood. He is a casual oboist with the West Australian Symphony Orchestra and the Perth Symphony Orchestra. Sam has performed with the WA Youth Orchestra, Fremantle Chamber Orchestra, WAAPA Faith Court Orchestra and UWA Symphony Orchestra.
